Redevelopment of the Duval County Courthouse Plaza

We invite you to join the conversation as we begin the preliminary plans for the redevelopment of the Duval County Courthouse Plaza by taking the survey at the bottom of the page, or attending one of the scheduled community engagement meetings.
The Duval County Courthouse Plaza project strives to transform the three acre lawn into a civic and artistic space for downtown Jacksonville.  In the winter & spring of 2020, a stakeholder group will analyze the opportunities and costs of improvements to develop a scope of work for a future artist-led team.  Through the City's Art in Public Places Committee, a team will be commissioned to imagine the plaza as public artwork in the fall of 2020 with construction completed in 2022
The Duval County Courthouse Plaza is a project of the City of Jacksonville's Art in Public Places (APP) program that is managed by the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville.  The $619,000 in art funding results from the City’s APP Ordinance that required 0.75% of the original Courthouse construction budget be set aside for public art.  The Cultural Council is the local art agency supporting arts organizations and artists in Duval County for the benefit of NE Florida.
